In my senior year of high school, I served as the chairperson of the school festival committee and dedicated myself to preparations until September. I used my lunch breaks and after-school hours to review proposals and help organize the after-party. Working together with my peers to bring everything to life is one of my most valuable memories.

Balancing this with college entrance exam prep was tough. With limited time, I had to prioritize and study efficiently. During summer break especially, I focused hard on my studies instead of losing motivation, making up for the times I hadn’t been able to study as much as I wanted before. I believe the study habits I built up since my first year of high school played a key role in my success.

Thanks to that “savings” of steady effort, I was able to manage both the school festival and exam prep. Time is limited. I encourage you to make the most of your time—whether it’s for studying, club activities, or school events. I’m cheering you on!

General Couse

I decided to apply to this university through a designated school recommendation. I first became interested in this path during my first year of high school, when I saw a list of recommended universities in the career guidance room and found a department that caught my attention.

I was a member of the hardball baseball team, with practices on weekdays and away games on weekends. Even during exam periods, we still had training sessions leading up to official matches. Taking that into account, I planned my studies carefully—like switching to morning study sessions when I was too tired at night—and managed to keep up.

Kodaira High School gives a lot of quizzes and assignments, so I made sure to stay on top of those as well. Since I was on the science track, I worked with my teachers to prepare for a wide range of university options, taking two science subjects and completing Math III.

One of my favorite memories is solving tough problems with classmates on the big blackboard in the physics room. At Kodaira, students give their all in both academics and extracurriculars—and the school is always there to support that effort.

Looking back on my three years at Kodaira High School, I feel that I’ve grown not only academically, but also as a person. By striving to balance both studies and extracurriculars, I was able to gain many meaningful experiences.

At first, juggling schoolwork and club activities was a real challenge. But by using spare moments to study and consistently working toward short-term goals—like quizzes and regular exams—I was eventually able to move forward on the path I had hoped for.

Kodaira offers a supportive environment where students can pursue their goals. Many of us take part enthusiastically in school events and club activities, which I think leads to unforgettable memories. I truly hope you enjoy a fulfilling and rewarding high school life at Kodaira!

General Course

Over my three years at Kodaira High School, I worked hard to balance both club activities and academics. I was part of the girls’ tennis team, which practiced five to six days a week, so it honestly wasn’t easy to find time to study.

Still, since I had planned from my first year to apply through a recommendation or comprehensive selection, I stayed focused on school tests, assignments, and class presentations without cutting corners. I used spare moments to memorize key points and complete assignments, and since I didn’t attend a cram school, I stayed after school to study. Whenever I had questions, I asked teachers or friends to help deepen my understanding.

By steadily putting in effort in both club and academic life, I was able to manage both well and eventually reach my desired path. Kodaira provides a great environment where you can fully commit to both studies and extracurriculars. I encourage you to give your best in everything and enjoy a rich, rewarding high school life!

Foreign Language Course

graduated from Ishikawa Junior High School, Hachioji City

I decided to aim for Tokyo University of Foreign Studies around the second semester of my second year. I started full-on exam preparation around May, after retiring from the kendo club, which had practices three times a week. That said, it’s not like I hadn’t been studying at all before then—I had been working hard for my regular tests.

The experience of preparing for those tests during my first and second years helped me figure out study methods that worked for me and taught me to focus on earning every point I could on exams. I also got used to studying consistently, so transitioning into entrance exam prep felt natural.

The time leading up to my third year had a huge impact on my exam success. That’s why I believe that every part of school life—not just studying—contributes to personal growth. I hope you enjoy your time at Kodaira and make the most of all it has to offer!

During the exam period, I truly felt the warmth and support of the people at Kodaira High School. There’s a strong sense of encouragement among students, and during tough times, I was really comforted by the presence of caring classmates and teachers.

I was part of the foreign language course, which gave me many opportunities to engage with English. Becoming familiar with the language through classes and assignments was a big help when it came to exam preparation.

Kodaira also provides a great environment for getting fully involved in school events, which gave me a healthy balance and a chance to refresh between study sessions.

Since preparing for entrance exams is a long journey, I believe it’s important to build good study habits as early as possible. It’s not always easy—but with kind and supportive friends around you, I believe you can get through it. I hope you’ll take on new challenges with your classmates and go after your dreams at Kodaira High School!
